GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE POLICE ACADEMY.
Police Academy was founded in 1921 as a school for training police men and command staff by the decree of the Azerbaijan Republic People’s Internal Affairs Comissariat. It functioned until 1936 in Baku and in 1936 it was moved to Mardakan village.
In 1957, Baku Police School was transformed into the USSR MIA Baku Special Police School. Training time was 2 years and the graduates were awarded diplomas and qualified as lawyers.

In 1957-1961, at full-time and part time departments as well as at the advanced training courses the school trained qualified personnel for Georgia, Daghestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Altay, Irkutsk, Krasnodar, Kuibyshev, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Saratov and many other cities and republics.

Due to the efforts and support of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the time when he was the head of the country, the Baku Special Secondary Police School was staffed with qualified personnel and its material and technical basis was impoved and the school was upgraded to Academy. By the Decree of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic # 782 of 23 May Police Academy was established on the basis of Baku Special Secondary Police School. Shortly, the Academy was awarded Category 1 status.
